Dinalupihan, Bataan — This northernmost town in Bataan , fast emerging as a model town, is now the envy of others. This town has always been the first to launch various programs aimed at improving the quality of life of the people here and the residents here attributed these to the sincerity to serve of their mayor Maria Angela Garcia.
Although she used to roam around Makati area during her youthful days, Garcia did not mind going to the rice fields to lead in planting high breed palay under the scorching heat of the sun.
She is probably the first ever mayor to do such , earning the admiration of newsmen. Recently, Garcia also earned the praise of Interior and Local Government director Florida Dijan and other officials of various national government agencies for successfully launching Brgy Pag-asa, as the showcase area in Central Luzon of what she called “synchronized 1st semester Barangay Assembly Day.” During the launching, Dijan stressed the importance of municipal leadership in partnership with the village government and its residents for the betterment of the community, saying “nothing is impossible if we work together.” For her part, Garcia vowed to provide the necessary assistance to address the gaps in implementing the proposed projects and activities of the barangay.
Gov. Albert Raymond Garcia informed the community of the current initiatives of the provincial government such as increasing employment opportunities by being an investment hub through the Freeport Area of Bataan; ongoing construction of flood control projects in the municipalities of Dinalupihan and Hermosa in Bataan and Lubao in Pampanga; and repair and full operationalization of the power generating plants in Bataan. The conduct of barangay assemblies in all villages across the archipelago every last Saturday of March and second Sunday of October is pursuant to Proclamation No.260 of President Benigno Aquino III.
